Jizerské hory

The locals can be proud of a four-kilometer sledge track, which has a century-old tradition. It leads through forests and meadows. The track starts at the Černá Studnice lookout tower and leads to the village of Smržovka. You can combine a sleigh ride with a pleasant hike and beautiful views of the Jizera Mountains. There is also a road to the top and it is possible to get here by car. And if you don't have the sledge, you can always rent one at the Filip ski area. The track is free of charge and there is no time limit.

This sledge track is located 105 km from Prague. 

Krkonoše

The highest mountains in the Czech Republic have some great places for sledders. We will talk about a specific path that leads from the top of Černá hora to Jánské lázně. It’s over 3.5 kilometers long and on the way down you can enjoy beautiful views. There is no charge for admission, however, the track has opening hours from 8 am to 5 pm. If you do not own a sledge, you can rent it at the local ski areál Janské Lázně. Černá hora sledging track has been in use for more than 100 years. You can give it a go during the day or during the night with a headlamp and a professional guide.

It’s different kind of adrenalin you won't be able to experience elsewhere. Try this 3.5 km long guided night sledging with headlamps.   Reservations for a given day must be made by 3 p.m. at the latest. This sledge track is located 145 km from Prague. 

Ještěd Ski Area

In the Ještěd Ski Area you can also use the toboggan run, which starts at the upper station of the Skalka cable car. It measures over three kilometers and leads through the forest to the cable cable car station Horní Hanychov. The toboggan run in Ještěd was established in 1910. It was originally wooden, measuring 3,300 meters and a number of international races took place here. The track had to cross forest roads on bridges several times, the road was covered by a tunnel. In 1914, the first European sledding championship took place here, which was won by the legendary racer Rudolf Kauschka from Liberec. At the moment you should have your own equipment, the resort is officially closed but the track is free for sledding.

Ještěd is situated 115 km from Czech capital.

Dolní Morava

You can also find a toboggan run in Lower Moravia. It measures about two kilometers and partly leads over the ski slope. In the past, it was only possible to set off on the track in the evening after the ski slopes were closed. Due to current government measures, a change has occurred and it is now possible to sled here all day. This track will be appreciated especially by those who do not want to walk uphill. The local cable car is open even under current conditions and for 150 CZK (120 CZK for children under three years of age have free entry) you can get to the top of the track effortlessly. The ski area also rents sledges and can be booked online.
